Roll Eyes Old school DOSbox games

There are plenty I still want to check out, and you can find them at abandonware sites. You can even find the SSI goldbox games like FRUA, pool of radiance, and champions of krynn.

Anyhow the one I have played lately is "Legacy of the Ancients". Anyone ever heard of it? Nobody? (Am I the only one who is that old here...?) I dust it off every once in a while in DOSbox for something to do.

Any oldschool favorites you wanna mention/recommend that you have to use dosbox for?

This is one good place to start, it is the old Ice Storm site. It has lots of games, manuals and so forth.

I have all the old Gold Box games, including Gateway and Treasure of the Savage Frontier. I have Dark Queen of Krynn but I don't think it works correctly; I cannot seem to find abandonware copies of Champions of Krynn or Death Knights of Krynn. At least, the last time I looked I didn't see them.

I still have Wasteland, all three Bard's Tales, and Dragon Wars so it's all good.

There are a handful of us here who are older than you are, so no, you are not the only one that old here.

I don't know if this is a problem, I haven't tested it myself, but if I begin a game on DosBox, and the game screen is stretched because the monitor is widescreen and the game was written for full screen, how do I alter the game to a more traditional screen?

No idea, check the DosBox Readme file. I play in a window, that is not ideal but it does work.

You'll have to muck around in the DosBox .ini file. Check the readme, but IIRC that's covered by FAQs at the DosBox site.

Well I now have my new computer, with DosBox installed. It took a bit to make everything coincide with everything else, but so far all is right in the world. I'm always a little uneasy with messing with the various interworking files of programs such as DosBox, but I checked it out yesterday, I think the keystroke is "alt-enter", but I'm not sure, I will check when I get home.
