How do you get level 9 spells for mages?

mages can not cast 9th level spells until they reach 18th level. the xp cap stops a mage's progession in bgII at 17th level. only mages with an intelligence of 18 or higher can write 9th level spells, though those with lesser intelligences can still cast them from scroll. a potion of genius will help a mage with less than 18 intelligence to write a 9th level spell. if you want to memorize and cast 9ths, just remove the xp cap.

Why cant Imoen read level9 spells? When I rightclick on a lvl9scroll there isnt the button to learn the spell...

But aren't specialist mages meant to get an additional spell?Is it like they are a level higher?

Imoen only has an INT rating of 17. You need an 18 to write 9th lvl spells to your book. Try taking a Potion of Genius.
