Here's my thirty second explanation...

HijackThis is a tool to protect against spyware and computer hijackers. It does this by listing registry behaviors and problems that spyware leaves behind, and letting you remove them if you choose. It's not excessively user-friendly, as the logs have to be interpreted. It's another tool in my anti-spyware arsenal.

Or you could try another alternative program, SpywareBlaster. It does not clean up adwares and stuff but prevents them from getting into your system via Active-X and other methods.

This is a freeware and highly recommended by Spybot.

ah, so hijackthis will work with other browsers as well? (such as opera and firefox?) or just IE?
