I frequently used Half Ogre bands as NPCs that could be persuaded into helping out PCs who were between a rock and a hard place. Of course 12 half-ogre mercenaries really cost them
..could always let them do the job and then kill 'em! Oh, no I can't, I always play lawful good!

I did suggest to the DM though that there should be the ability for an Orc or Half-orc mage, or some other large creature which would have magic resrictions, but would have d6 or d8 hit points and better figthing stats than a regular mage.

That kind of thing is one of the reasons I like 3rd edition, though the awesome power of making up your own rules should never be underestimated! In 3e any race can be any class, but the intelligence penalty for half orcs hurts a little bit.

And don't think my players didn't think about that Variol lol. A lawful evil monk, a chaotic evil half-orc barbarian, a chaotic good halfling rogue, and a chaotic good human ranger - their moral compass was shifty and contradictory to be sure. The good characters having weak personalities, the party would have been dominated by evil if the orc had more than 5 intelligence and the monk had known to focus on strength as a melee fighter
