Default 3d Art

Okay, so I'm finally moving into the 3d territory. And boy is it fun! (and complicated)...

I'll be sure to put /show my work as it progresses. But first, if there is anyone on IW who does this already, any hints/tricks etc?

Right now, I'm using Blender, but if you have a better suggestion - I'll try those as well.

I know Z does 3d but does anyone else?

I am very clueless in that area,

Does Autocad work for that sort of thing, or is that different?

Variol, I've actually used autocad and am familiar with it. Though at that time I was only using it for school (design class). Now however I'm using a free program called "Blender"

Its very powerful and well somewhat different.
I've begun to do some stuff. So I figure I'll just stash it in here- instead of making a new thread every now and then. (how's that sound?)

Seems to me there's an art forum... yeah... 3D Modeling and Art. Post there (as well!), and you'll also get good feedback from other artistes.

But... keep it here, too, so those of us who don't wander over there can see it

okay so after a couple of weeks (1?2)

I've got some work to show. They're still basic basic models with very little colour/ texture (except for the first ) but they're still something

they might be kinda heavy

these two were basically low poly renders that I did to practice getting the shape of the car

I was just fooling around with shapes and this "street" came to life. Its still in the works, but think steampunk style.

This is the result of the lowpoly car, I learned alot from the lowpoly so I decided to scrap it and start anew. This is alot of extruding, and repositioning. =) Its modeled after my own car (92 accord).

Its lots of fun, but lots of works. Hopefully will have something finished soon.

Looks like a great start!

Can you tell us a little about why you're doing this? Is this your job, or hobby?

Well Variol, I like to draw and paint. (been doing it for nearly two decades ...I'm 20 )

But I've always shyed away from the 3d territory, because it just seemed so intimidating. And I guess you could say this is for my career, because i plan to be a graphic designer. So I find alot of benefit from learning this
