I had my fair share of encounter with snakes ( Python , Spitting Cobra, Cobra , Grass Snake etc )Usually I just run home and collect my King Cobra and charge back to the scene to see if the snake is stupid enough to just stay there.
I guess you have yet to encounter a North American moccasin. You know that cable channel called Discovery? Yea, the one where the alligator and the water snake are locked in a death match where there is no survivor? That's a Moccasin, FEARLESS!
Have you ever encountered the SW Asain desert cobra?
What about being chased by a 'swarm' of SW Asian desert vipers? I'm talking *gang, pack, swarm* whatever word you like to describe 100's of snakes of one 1 type in a pack, on the hunt.

Don't get me wrong, the king is cool and all, but from what I understand, it does have fear (how else could it be a pet), and surely it can be out numbered.
Maybe you right Felix. But unfortunately the Windlife Department took my snake away so I can't find out how good mine is against those you mentioned.

this was the first copperhead I had seen in a long time and it was about a 3 footer, and yes I killed it and when it was dead I killed it some more, water moccasins are not welcome anywhere around me.

About 4 months ago a man here in Little Rock saw a box on the side of the street in a residential nieghborhood, it was marked VENOMOUS SNAKES DO NOT OPEN> this should have given this guy a clue, but being the curious type he opened it to have a King cobra raise out and look him in the eye, inside the box were 1 king cobra, 1 pit viper, 1
green viper, 1 black momba and 2 other extremely venomous snakes. this was found less than a block from a school and a playground where small children were playing. the owner of the snakes was found the same day. however he was not as lucky as the guy that found the box.

Because that was such a surprising story, Stormy, I went and googled an article about that incident.

Here's a linky for anyone else interested in what happened.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3738185.stm

And some more info on the incident, too:

And just for the sake of completeness...and a bizarre twist, LOL:

That last one is just...odd.
