When I played the game the first time I found somewhere (Chapter 1 +2) a Iounstone of regeneration, that can be worn like a helm. I can't remember where and have missed it so far.

There are a few. One from that spider place in the graveyard crypt, another on some debris in the lava room of the temple of Amaunator, another from completing puzzles in Spellhold... take your pick.

I've found a dusty Ioun stone that appears to have no use. Anyone know what it does?

They're pretty talented people in the BG world. I mean how many people do you know that can go into battle with an egg balanced on their noggin, fill in the opposition and come out again with it still perched on their head, bloody clever if you ask me .

There is a type of Ioun stone called "dusty rose" or something like that. That may be the stone that you found. Ioun stones (in AD&D) are supposed to orbit around your head, not be balanced on your head.

Maybe this is why thieves can't use them...it would be pretty hard to hide in shadows with that stupid stone orbiting your noggin'.
