To worry about everything the government keeps secret is going to put you in an early grave. besides If the U.S. Government ever released all the files and information they have it would distroy this country from the inside out and, to read it all would take 10 life times. When I was in the Military, an officer told a few of the guys in my squad that more than 2,000,000 pages of imformation were classified Top Secret every day. Then they were sealed and put into coded files and that unless you new just where to look for a file that you wished to see you would never find it in your life time. Now if you notice the Mass Media puts out more misimformation than the government tries to hide, so who really knows what's even the truth about anything anymore and that worries me more than the things we can't see because the government puts it in a file somewhere and tags it Top Secret. This post is making my head hurt so Goodby I'm done here and I'm going to another Non-government post.

I would imagine that half of the "intelligence" that the government has filed away isn't even relevant anymore and anybody who knew of its existance is probably long since gone. As for the other half...who cares?
So why does it matter if the Sept 11 report is made public or not? It's not going to change what happened. I would guess that most of the population would find it disturbing to understand just how vulnerable they are. Guess what...Suprise, the government is no more perfect than we are. The release of this information would only serve to prove that the government isn't made up of all powerful, omnipitent beings. That's no secret. [ 05-02-2003, 09:04 PM: Message edited by: Animal ]

TheCrimsonBlade, the deal is that the Constitution spells out the powers of the Federal government. All other things are left to the states or the people. Thus, if the federal government has not been granted the power to declare state secrets, they don't have that power. Now granted, it's not worth getting killed to force them to release that information, but that is kind of like saying it is not worth getting killed to tell bank robbers they shouldn't be doing that...
