what do you mean, "the new spells didn't apply"?
you mean, after you loaded your saved game (after installing HOW), your magic doesn't work? what? your spell book is empty? your magic spells don't cast properly or fizzle? You CAN'T cast spells(greyed out)? Are you talking about Priest spells that didn't appear in your scrolls? there are some new priest spells only for druid/ranger classes. or, are you talking about items in the shops at kuldahur? sadly, there is not a huge list of new spells there  but there are some new items. those didn't appear?[This message has been edited by Leafy (edited 06-04-2001).] |

I installed IWD then the 1.06 patch. Two weeks later I bought HoW and then installed the 1.41 patch. The game runs fantastic. Whats the deal with not installing a patch. They fix bugs and stuff. Thats what they're for right?
P.S. I get the patches from the interplay site and have never had any trouble downloading. I use Netscapes SmartDownload...some other here use Go!Zilla. To get the new HoW spells you have to encounter them. You have to find or buy the scrolls and write them to your spellbook. You don't just get them automatically.

I'm playing IWD /HoW as a multiplay game with Turbovee and we played right up to Dorn's Deep with only IWD installed(with patches). Last week we both installed HoW and downloaded the patch from Interplay. Our game is running just fine! We are about to do the final battle of IWD! Cannot WAIT to start HoW!
 The game is beautiful (graphics are good to begin with and even better now!) and YES I'm seeing the new spells! My cleric has several that I don't remember ever seeing before and I've got a few for my bard as well. So go ahead and play your original game, it should work just fine. I thought there were some new priest(not just druid) spells of level 3 and below. when I installed HoW, no new spells. or the new thief abilities for that matter. some are saying you have to level up to see them. doesnt make sense. i understand that I need to find the mage scolls, but priest spells are listed automatically.
