Hello all. I loaded the expansion and started a new game. I was in ch 5 and decided to start a new game. But I went and bought the expansion and my chacters are now anout 4th level and just about done the vale. What would be a good time to do the HOW expansion quest. What level were you all when you did the expansion when starting from the start of IWD.

Hi, Mack_Attack! It is recommended that you don't do it before you reach lvl 9. There is some tough opposition in there!

It cuts barbarians just fine...trouble is the barbarians are the least of your worries. Better wait till 9th or 10th level.

They won't let you in until you are at least lvl 8, but I STRONGLY suggest you to be in double digit levels (at least 10) before entering the expansion.... tough battles ahead.

So you can start HoW before finishing IWD?

I did finish a single game with barely 2 digit levels...sigh.. but am now playing a multiplayer game with turbovee and we are at the point of going after Ilmadia . My bard is a level 15 and my cleric is 13 I think. His thief and fighter-mage are close to those levels.

Where does HoW begin? I always thought it started back in East Haven, but maybe it's Kuldahar?

I actually played IWD once, then played it again, THEN played HOW to get my characters up strong enough to face the barbarians in the camp

Why?

I was around levels 17-20 when I entered HOW btw. When I finished it, I ended up around 21-23, then I played the Heart of Fury mode and got bored.

It is Kuldahar. In the pre-HoW IWD, there was a house in Kuldahar that was inaccessible. With HoW, you can now get into the house and talk to someone to get started on the HoW stuff.
