I have a 12th level-ish party right now, about to enter Spellhold:
- myself (kensai/mage) - Keldorn, - Sir Anomen - Minsc - Jan - Jaheira wielding Belm Any recommendations on who should tank? Keldorn obviously. My char seems to get hit a lot - even with zerth and vecna robes Dunno which to tank between Anomen, Minsc, and Jaheira. Right now, the front line is Keldorn, me, and Anomen. I have the following weapons wielded: - Myself with CF/zerth - Keldorn with Lilarcor - Anomen with flail of ages / shield - Minsc with mace of disruption / some other mace - Jaheira with Belm / shield Whaddya think? Do you have a better suggestion? |

Just a question, if you are going to keep Keldorn in your party, why dont you have him weilding the Holy Avenger sword? +5 to hit, bonuses against Chaotic Evil opponents plus Dispel Magic is a worthwhile tradeoff to a +3 weapon.

Tank Keldorn, he can use some good gear, and can really take a beating too.

How about tanking Keldorn or Minsc, they will be your most important brawlers after all. Yeah, and Keldorn should be wielding Carsomyr.

Ehh... why aren't you tanking with minsc? The other are priests, you can't tank with such.

Hmm... I'd suggest tanking Mincs and Keldorn, and having Keldorn wield Holy Avenger, and having Minsc use something other than Mace of Disruption in general, like Crom Fayer or Blade of Roses.

Well definatly you need to get carsomyr for keldorn. Also if you don't have the guantlets of dexterity for him those will help his ac alot.
Your kensai/mage shouldn't be taking damage like he is. I have played quite a bit with a kensai mage. With robe of vecna, zerth blade etc etc his ac should be one of the best, if not the best in the party. Throw stoneskins on top of that and it should be rare that he ever gets injured. Sending others into the fight first should ensure of that. Anomen with a shield should but also very sturdy but you want minsc and keldorn taking most of the blows (with anomen and jaheria in your party you got plenty of summoning power too so you should be going into most fights with summoned creatures as fodder). The fact that most of your party can melee means that you shouldn't really worry about 1 person in particular being designated as the tank anyways. With so many targets for the enemy its better because the damage gets spread around. Just send in the summoned critters first (I always send in fodder before my characters), then the brutes and the other decent melee people (like anomen, jaheira) behind them. Oh and as for killing the dragon for carsomyr your party should be able to handle it no problems. You have a pretty strong group there and level 12 is plenty. |

Woo, I killed the red & shadow dragons last night. Was pretty easy actually! Lower resistance + magic missile + summoning rules Now I have Carsomyr, yay!
Ok so now I'm looking at: - Myself with CF/zerth/vecna at -5AC (now I use stoneskin $$) - Keldorn with Carsomyr at -7AC - Minsc with Frostreaver & Stonefire at -4AC - Anomen with Flail of Ages at -5AC Wheee Thx all for the advice! |
