I'm getting some conflicting oppinions so I was hoping someone could clear this up. I was under the impression that 20 was the max number of levels you can get in the game. Is this true? And if so, can this be circumvented by importing a level 20 char and putting levels in other classes? And if you can only get to level 20 what is the point of having weapons that require level 40 or 60 to use?

Thanks, Decurion

Well from whatr I played, and Hacked(Yes I know its cheating, but this cahotic neutral chick don't care!!) you can only get to the max level 20 in this game. So I agree with you about the higer level items. I don't know much about the expansion so I can't say you can go higher than 20 in it, though if you can't that is f***** up!
Well thats my speil. Hope it helped at all....

The point is that level 40 items are COMPLETELY unbalancing. It might be possible to hack your character so that you can use that item but that will tag your character as illegal and prevent you from entering a LARGE number of games on the net.

I beleive the Shadows of Undrentide expansion will start with NEW first level characters, and not add levels above 20.

An item that requires level 40 has been 'over-hacked'. Look, your character can wear either nine or ten items (including weapons, jewelry, etc). You want to spread out everything you want for that charcter between 9 or 10 items or you won't be happy with the result.

Note: there are some games on the net that require legit characters but have nice uber weapons in their shoppes (they've all been carefully crafted to have the most bang for the buck while not going over level 20). If you want a character this way, why not find such a game, enter as a new character, level up to 20, and fill out with all the goodies you can use? The added bonus is that your character is still 'legal', although not necessarily 'legit'.

As you get better in the game, however, you might not want the hacked character 'training wheels'. The game is much more fun when you really do risk your character and when you can't just hit spacebar to think out your next move/ spell...

In 3rd Edition, unless you add the stuff from the Epic Handbook (which allows characters of any level), then you are limited to 20 character levels. Note, that in 3rd edition, there is a difference between character and class levels. If you are a 5th level Fighter/4th level Thief, then you have 5 class levels in Fighter, 4 class levels in Thief, and 9 character levels. You can only have 20 character levels, so you could get to 10th level Fighter/10th level Thief (or any other combination that adds up to 20), but you cannot exceed 20 character levels in NWN.

Hope this helps!
