I dont care about which kind of challenge it is. Pain in the ass is fine. Beast master should be interesting..and it can use the Staff of the Ram.
P.S. Rincewind as in the Discworld wizard?

BTW, if any of the TDD classes are challenging, Ill try it. Im getting awfully bored of regular BG2. As I said, I want a challenging, but effective (or replace effective with fun) class. That is why I said Darter. If there were higher damage darts, Id definately use it.

I see you are roleplaying a jester my friend! or maybe you misread the question and thought he wanted a cakewalk through bg2 underpowered so called boss mages Since i have yet to play a solo mage i will refrain from further comments RE: the wizard V slayer debate. I'm actually playing my first Wizard Slayer right now, and frankly it's been more difficult than a normal Fighter. The Spell Disruption on hits is nice, but by the time you've hit a spellcaster 3 or 4 times, he's going to be dead very soon anyway. And the Magic Resistance is only half of what I thought it would be; I thought it was 2% per level, and after Level 25 it goes up to 3% per level. Instead, here I am at Level 14, with 14% Magic Resistance--while by this time, a normal Fighter could have had 20%, just from jewelry that I can't wear.
Wizard Slayers actually can wear Boots. They can wear Helmets, Ioun Stones, Armor, Weapons, Shields, Boots, and unenchanted jewelry. They may not wear magical jewelry, Bracers/Gauntlets/Gloves, Cloaks, or Belts. They may use Healing Potions, Antidotes, Elixirs of Health, Restoration scrolls, Protection scrolls (the green ones), and the Rod of Resurrection. (I haven't tested the Rod of Reversal or the Rod of Lordly Might.) My biggest pain is no Ring of Regeneration. My best Tank had to spend 24 hours of game time as an archer because he had only 12 hitpoints left, and Jaheira & Aerie were out of spells. But that will change: Now that I've just finished my mad rush to get Imoen back, my next target is the Windspear Hills--specifically, a Regeneration item that I can use. I think Wizard Slayers are worse off than straight Fighters not because of their Kit drawbacks, but because there aren't any great Wizard Slayer items. Their hallmark is their Magic Resistance: So why do they have worse MR than Monks, or Paladins, or anybody wearing the Ring of Gaxx or Kaligun's Amulet?

Well, I am done searching. I started a solo archer on core (thinking about insane). I have to say, its the most fun I've had with the game in a very long time. Gesen and the Quiver of plenty make a great combo..I still get unlimited arrows, each with 1-8 electrical damage, and fast attack speed as well. As soon as I get the boots of speed, and buy Aegers, I am going to fight the Shadow Dragon. To roleplay, I have dagger proficiency as well. So far, most enemies die before even coming within swinging distance

SixOfSpades, hang in there. The Wizard Slayer's Magic Resistance only really kicks in at level 20 and beyond. Prior to that, his MR is for all purposes, piddly-squat.
Or... you could do the WS->Thief combination. 20->32 A pureclassed Wizard Slayer is formidable though, and should not be dismissed so easily, especially since your most powerful enemies happen to be spellcasters too. |

How about playing a mage with minimum stats at insane, fighting only with an unenchanted dagger and the spells you got at the start, without using the pause button or any of the autopause options? Or, since you seem to prefer darts, use darts. If you can't beat your enemies, run
