Back after a lenghty sojourn...

Hi all,

It is now 6 years ago that I last touched this beautiful game and I figured I'd have a go again. This required digging through a bunch of old boxes to find the CD's (check) and the good old guide (check).

I figured I'd see what was out there in terms of patches and fun mods and came across the official patch version 27thousandsomething...

Also, found the BG2fixpack and BG2tweakpack. I installed the patch and then went ahead to the fixpack but get an error which terminates installing:

ERROR: illegal 1-byte read from offset 24 of 0-byte file blun30.itm
ERROR: [blun30.itm] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("blun30.itm: r
ead out of bounds"))
Stopping installation because of error.

does anyone here know of a way to fix this? Many thanks for help on the matter.

Also, I am very much out of touch on what to do in this wonderful game. If any of you are willing to recommend fun mods or patches that are out there I'd love to hear about it. Or is the fixpack/tweakpack a good enough combination?

so did you install the official patch before the BGfixpack? It has to be in a certain order for you to install the game.
Official Patch -> bgfixpack -> bgtweaks and then any other modules.

It pays to read posts carefully.

Vicotnik, did you install the correct fixpack? There is a separate one for ToB and for SoA only.

Well, I went to the readme on the Weidu website and they say the fixpack should work with or without ToB.

So, to be clear my installment order has been as follows:
1. Full BG2 install
2. Official Patch no. 23037
3. Fixpack which crashes with aforementioned results

Could it be that I should install ToB as well, patch that up and THEN do the fixpack?

Which fixpack did you mean the Baldurdash or G3 one? the baldurdash fixpack is different for SoA and ToB.

I haven't used the G3 one yet, so don't know about that.

And to be fully patched, install ToB and the ToB official patch. Then ToB Baldurdash fixpack, then at last G3 fixpack.

It is the G3 BG2 fixpack. I guess I will try throwing ToB into the mix and patching that up. Then this thing again.
