but you must know that at least in Holland noone hates the US.
Thats odd, most dutch people I have came in contact with seem to have a very strong dislike for America. Of course they give you that "oh its not america, its just a the courupted polotians you have" bullshit.
Yeah, that is strange. Of couse i know people like this too, but that's just a few. And like i said most of them have Arab backgrounds.

Well I would have to say that as a European guy.. I like some of US and I donīt like some other parts of US.

I like some of the people I have met from there. Some I donīt like to meet at all.

I think there are good americans, bad americans, good europeans, bad europeans.

So what?

I donīt like the "we helped you there", "why didnīt you" etc etc etc from BOTH parts. It is all taken care of over all of our heads anyway. Sure we vote, for what? Democracy? Yeah right, think again. We donīt know half of what is going on, and to try and get it straight here where people WILL take sides wether they like it or not... well itīs wroking perfect donīt you agree??

I find your summation of people responding on this thread a little insulting, Donut. I guess I must fall in the latter of the two categories since I've not been in school since 1978.

Well spoken Lioness, and well summarised by my ole pal Donut. The post was a bit blunt for your usual style though buddy - I couldn't find the subtitle .

Move along people - nothing to see here.

OK, i followed this thread and i decided to throw in my opinion about what was said.

First, the WTC. Look, you can't blame them for 'whining'. Somebody killed a whole lot of people. Everybody would 'whine'. But, the thing that struck me the most was that they didn't need help. At least, i know from that time that my country had a transport plane ready with doctors and nurses. The US wouldn't let them in because they didn't need them. From what i saw, the US needed every hand they could get. But they obviously needed noone from us. Besides later on when the war on terrorism was going on, don't forget who helped you out. Bush had to ask us, this little country, to help and give them planes to patrol their own airspace, but that get's forgotten.

The WW2. This is something i'm sick of hearing. The USA didn't come because they had to fight a tyrant that they wouldn't want any more, they joined the wat because they got their own noose bloody. They joined the war because of self preservation. Did they make an impact, yes of course. But saying that they saved our asses is greatly exagarated. The other point is that Hitler didn't loose the war against the Americans. He lost it against the Russians. He took a foolish risk and got his butt kicked in Russia. Then the Americans came in and basically took out what was left. Even without the Americans, Hitler would sooner or later loose. The only thin that they did was speed up the process.

And hoping that something happens here so that you can have the joy of denying help is.............wrong.

I've read that people in control of the media in the US actually keep the general populace pretty much in the dark with respect to a lot of things...

Oh, forgot something. I remember someone posting a quote from an American sports announcer in the soccer thread and it stated that he couldn't believe how the entire world is watching something as BOORING as soccer, when the American sports are so MUCH MORE entertaining. It's probably things like that that po the rest of the world.

You selected a portion of my quote and left out the qualifying comment ('in the main'). Given that your post was one of the reasons I qualified my statement it's somewhat ironic that you left it out.
