...it is funny; in IWD i used Magic Stone AAALLLLL the time...it was like a Magic Missile for clerics...especially if you read the spell description and note the extra kick it has versus Undead...however in BG2 i do not find myself using it that much...maybe it has something to do with the enhanced spell animation in Icewind Dale...they looked sssoooo much cooler in that game.

vampiric touch is one of the most useful spells in the game for a mage... heals you and kills your enemies... add it with a fireshield around you... you would be killin fighters ... chill touch ... now that is another thing... THAT is worthless... i cant really remember if you can use the vampiric touch with people who have the cloak of cheat (deflection) but i think it does.. making it one of the few spells that can actually goes around that blasted ratted defense...
shapechange... that is useful for me resilient sphere is useful when your blocking out a mage you know... i forgot the rest but i know there is more than meets the eye on everyspell... Rikard ?? no fireball?? |

Chromatic orb and vampiric touch are very good spells for me. When I am fighting a lot of shadows (that level drain you), I have grew fond of the grease spell.
Except for these spells, I agree with you all. Caliton, ok, I can remove the confusion with the heal spell, but I don't want a great spell like that go to waste. The cloak of deflection SHOULD be called cloak of cheat. You are practically immune to all magic with this cloak. The developers have made a mistake putting this into the game. |

Fireball!!!! u don't like it...damn I use that spell along with web more than any!!! others. Oh and don't forget the also heavily used Cloud Kill...very nice spell indeed
I find that Minor Globe of Invulnrebility is practicly totaly useless Cold Touch Larlocs Minor Drain (unless the enemy is weak) Deafness Trap Detection Friends good berrys magic stone flame sword enchanted hammer (think thats the name, u know the cleric spell, 2nd level) I also tend to avoid useing many of the very powerful spells that just kill people, im by no means saying disintigrate isnt a great spell...it's just Id much rather have some treasure left to pick up than just a pile of dust. also imprisonment and Flesh to Stone denie me of precious loot so i almost never use them. |

Heal can cure Confusion? Does it have to be the complete "Heal", or just any healing spell?
I used Good Berry a lot in BG1, but never in BG2. I'm currently in Chapter 5 - at this point, the only "defensive" spells my mage uses regularly are Invisibility, Resist Fear, and Stoneskin. She has the spell-deflection cloak as well. I've never used the globes. I like to keep her spell slots open for damage and "debuffing spells" such as Lower Resistance, Greater Malison, and Breach. Tried Cone of Cold at the beginning of BG2, seemed the damage wasn't worth the risk of hurting my party members. I never use the Lighting Bolt spell (though I'm quite fond of Chain Lightning). Used Chromatic Orb in BG1, but not in BG2. Just gets resisted too much. Never used the mage teleport spells. I don't summon creatures that can turn on me. Just not worth the hassle. I don't use any of the "touch" or "roll to hit" spells. I like to keep it simple. Line `em up, strip `em down, and fry `em |

I think Dispel Magic DOES remove confusion. But it's just that your mage is at a weak level I presume.
Oh yeah THE SHIT LIST: 1) Goodberry = Cure ONE GOD DAMN HP OF LIFE (WOW!!!) 2) Luck = No thanks, I've already found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. 3) Know Alignment = If there're evil they would attack me for god's sake!! 4) Disintergrate = Who wants a spell that turns your lovely Holy Avenger +5 into sawdust? 5) Fireball = Sadly I killed a lot of innocent people with this spell. And don't forget draw upon holy might = takes 8934728904 hours to cast and by that time they've got you........ |
