partitions work very well, i have my 40 gig hd split as a 6 gig windows partition and a data partition. Each acts like a seperate drive, so i can format teh windows partition and still have data left.

If at all possible, back-ups should be stored on a seperate hard drive. A hardware failure could render the drive inoperable in which case your seperate partitions are useless.

I wish I did the partition on mine...

For a simple case such as mine, if I try to switch mobos, I would have to reinstall the system and lose everything so I have to back things up. Partition Magic sounds funky so I guess I'll do the cleam install and install all those updates..

I would strongly recommend that you do buy another HD. It makes backing-up files easier, not to mention you always have a spare if ever the main crashes. Two HDs are better than one

Evertime I got the blue screen of death this is what I got to. If the tech help does not know what to do I doubt most people can restore the registry from the command propt if they have never done it before, or do not have a list of instructions.

I have installed the extra Drive and a new CD/RW. Both seem to be working good. Windows XP, seems to be working corectly after several system repairs and fixing 530 infected files. Actually the 530 files were all infected with the same virus so not that bad.
