AM I MISSING SOMETHING? IS THERE ANY WHERE ON THIS LEVEL TO REST? I
HAVE NO SPELLS AND I AM TIRED!! EVERYTIME I TRY TO REST IT SAYS "YOU CAN NOT REST HERE". ALL MY OFFENSIVE AND MOST OF MY DEFENSIVE SPELLS AND SCROLLS ARE USED!! I NEED TO SLEEP!!

Also for some reason this game is so hard! I am playing on easy difficulty and still having a hard time. Is it better to have alot of Fighters and do more melee fighting over Magic? I do enjoy the game and would like to finish it without cheating, but it is hard for me.

Maybe someone can help me? If you think my party is no good, please tell me if I should start over with a new party. I am fairly new to this type of RPG(Dungeons & Dragons Rules)game. I thought it would be neat to have characters doing cool magic, but I seem to do more damage with melee and missle weapons.

Fighter/Human
Paladin/Human
Cleric/Halfling
Druid/Half-Elve
Mage/Dwarve
Fighter/Mage/Thief

Thanks in advance

You cant rest at all on that level, you have to go back up. The adventurers on the previous level will guard you while you sleep though, a handy thing. As for it being hard, use your fight types up front while the others do spells, backstab, etc. Dwarves cant be mages, did you mean Gnome illusionist? Anyway you can always come here for help

Rest on level 4 and let the npc party that you rescued earlier, stand guard for you.

Why the F/M/T? Leveling up is going to be so slow compared to the other 5 single classed characters that you have. If you want to have a multi-class party member go for a thief/mage instead.

Use Dalekeeper to edit the F/M/T and turn him into a F/M, F/T, or a T/M.

I didn't know Dwarves could be Mages! I'd suggest you replace the F/M/T with a Bard (assuming you have HOW); their battle songs get real powerful at later levels and they can't cast some mage spells.

Oh my Gosh! why es everyone so bigoted against the fighter/mage/thief?
in reality, they are one of the BEST characters in the game! no need to waste a whole character (or even half) on a silly class like thieves; though their find traps and pick pocket is invaluable. Sneaking around, however is not such a hot ability. i mean, it can be exploited to coolness; but the thief MAGE can go invisible (and knock open locks, for that matter... but strong characters can force open most of the chests in IWD). so you get the NEEDED trap detection right away, you also get some cool spells (up to 7th level) right away like charm, color spray or magic missle. As a fighter, you get to specialize in two weapons right away. say, bow and dagger are your choices; you get the extra 1/2 attack and better thaco for backstabs and you can use any nifty magic longbow you find! that helps a lot considering both Thieves and Spellcasters tend to stand back from the action and use missle/spell attacks.
Later on, after you've hasted and mirror immaged, you can drop the robes (a robed thief?) and slap on the armor and run some block and cover for a hurt party member who needs to fall back (all the time, getting to roll your special thief save to avoid all efects from fireballs and evil magics; and the fullplatemail+1 is cool in that fighter/thieves can find/remove traps with it on). Oh yeah, i forgot to mention the fact that you're a thief or spell caster who can wear a helmet and large shield while you cast or pick pockets!
There are also some special items for Fighters only (girdle of strength 19 and various helms), for mages (robes, mage daggers, 'the fighter mage sword'), and for rogues (ring of the warrior thief, sneaky boots).
If you've got your straight classed fighters, clerics and mages in the party already, the fighter/mage/thief can be very versitile. Even in a small party, it's a great character to play. sure, they don't appear to geek out right away because they take a bit longer to level up; but it's worth it to have a Stealthy, Mirror immaged, Weapon Specialist who has a chance to evade all damage from enemy area affect spells, fireball the monsters right back, then puck off the burning survivors with a longbow.

They only lack the 9th level spells. and it takes a long time to get to the 8th level ones (like level 29 or 30?). But spells like Flame Arrow are awesome in the hands of a 30th level caster. The bards are pretty cheesey though with their regeneration song at level...11? 13? considering rogues level up so darn quick (max out at 440,000,000 exp). a bard is the only straight classed rogue i'll use... even multi-classed rogues are a waste in that they level up TOO quickly and don't have much to offer in higher levels once you've maxed out their theiving abilities. I'd say that the way this game is layed out, you only really need a dual-classed thief (thief to other class) or the triple classed thief. straight class thief, you ARE the WEAKEST LINK! GOOD-bye!

You really, really, need a Bard in your party. The cool thing about Bards is they level quickly and they can identify nearly anything! (They can fight too)Identification alone is worth a Bard. Instead of wasting time sleeping to gain an identify spell or travelling great distances and PAYING someone to identify things just slip the unidentified item into the Bard's inventory and click on it... VOILA!! Instant Identification.
