Relax - stay home from work - and see that doctor on friday (to be safe). Most of those strains are very painfull , but gone in a week or so . Still a good thing to see the doctor - especially if the pain doesn't ease in a couple of days.

Take some pain killers and go to bed.

It'll probably clear up on it's own. I wouldn't bother with a doctor yet. Take some ibuprofen and stay active if you can.

BTW - I'm not a doctor so feel free to disregard what I say!

Ignore the rounded pastry and see what the doctor says. Several years ago, I did something that caused similar painful problems in my back. Medication to reduce swelling (when the muscle or nerve gets irritated, it swells, which causes it to get more irritated, which swells, which...), rest, and time are the cures.

And to really put it in perspective, you never know how important your back is until you try to sit down on the and get up from one without it.

Give 'em a hug one more time. It might be the last.

I'm not sure if what I have to say is medically sound, but I've noticed that if I am strained and I try not to move at all, the tension actually worsens the pain. So, I would try to rest "normally" and think about something else pleasant until I fall asleep

LOL - I do have some knowledge and access to a large library of medical information and information leaflets.

If anyone turns up to my surgery they would be given this advice especially as he can almost certainly pinpoint where he got it! I suppose different health service systems might be different.

Xen, you need to stay out of work until you're healed (depending on what you do). I recommend a chair with a stiff back, a bottle of Powers Irish Whiskey, a tall shot glass, and lots of NWN. (and if I didn't say so before, please feel better.)

Massage? Good idea, although it would depend on the person massaging you................
