An error has occured:

Unable to connect to the SMTP server. The following error was returned: Bad file descriptor

The server either does not exist, or rejected the connection.

Please ensure that the UBB is allowed to relay mail through the server.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!

That happened to me too SecretMaster (15 mins ago) - but in my case the PM was still sent. Suggest you check to see if the PM is in your out box, cos mine was.

What is so really really important that you have to PM Ziroc??

And if it includes "tasteful" pictures - why was I not included

I had to turn the Email server off-- SOMEONE WAS RELAYING SPAM EMAIL messages (porn and other BS stuff) using MY EMAIL SERVER!

And get this--the directory was filled with over 400,000 email files to go OUT!
and that added up to 4 GIGS! (4 GIGS!!!!!!!) of emails!!!

I KNEW I should have shut relaying down.. they basically used ironworksforum.com as their send out (SMTP) email server.

I caught it before 99% of the emails were sent thank the gods ...

The server is back up, and it's now locked down by IP checks.

Mem, Larry and Luvian will need to email me at my tgeweb account and give me their IP addresses (Home and at Work) so you can check email. It sucks doing it this way, but that spam email was eating LOTS of bandwidth and making the harddrive access constantly. I had to defrag it!

Sorry for the down time, but it's A-OK now!!

BTW, I have cleared out my PM Box! So I can accept them again.

I never check PM's much--I usually get the email alert of the PM and use that lol!

Glad to hear you caught it. Any way of tracking who did it? And can they be prosecuted?

So that's what's been going on! I wondered about all those error messages! Glad it's fixed up now and the garbage mail is stopped!

Yikes! How long has this been going on then? I've been having these time-out errors for months now...
First time I had this error as far as I can remember was on December the 20th, when I tried to send a PM to the Hierophant, to be more exact.
