Thanks, Downunda
To put my current excitement into the right context... I started off this year with 42 days of vacation leave (21 carried over from last year, and a fresh 21 this year). This 42-day deal has been carrying on for 3 years, meaning that since 2000, I have only used up the previous year's leave but not touched on the current year's allocation. This year, I took 14.5 days off (4 to attend to my maternal grandma's funeral, 4 to visit my paternal grandparents overseas, and the remaining to run errands for my parents). It has been so stressful at work that I just want a break from it all (even when I went on leave earlier, I tended to check my office emails... it was becoming an obsession ). Right now, my leave plans are in 1-2 day blocks (for example, I am off next Tues and Wed, but return to the office on Thu). I have tried as far as possible to extend my weekends using the blocks, though. I don't think I can afford a long holiday (I doubt my boss would agree, it is after all the peak period), but at least I hope to wake up late and bum around I am really keeping my fingers crossed that I get to go off on those days [ 11-26-2003, 01:13 AM: Message edited by: mistral4543 ] |

I've just started a 6 day week (Tuesday-Sunday) and although the extra dollars are all good, it definately isn't for me. Soon as Christmas is done, I'm heading back to a Wednesday-Sunday deal. I work to live, I don't live to work hehe

Ooh, 6-day working week? We are currently on shift for Saturdays (we work half-day on alternate Saturdays), and I already get depressed by that
I think I have been working too long in the same organisation (5 years is pretty long by today's standards). The thing is, I can't be sure the grass is always greener at the other side |

bad news: my distict manager has failed to follow through on her stated desire to secure a promotion for me.
good news: a recruiter from a large local accounting software firm really wants me to come in for a follow-up interview. bad news: both my mother and Belle's mother had to cancel their plans to come here for Thanksgiving. good news: we'll have plenty of money for Christmas gifts. What a "mixed bag" day!

Heh, I like to be clear of how I feel at the end of the day so I'm not sure if I'd want to be in your current situation, Azred

Well, it could always be worse around here...fortunately it isn't. I need only set my store's ad for December tomorrow and then I don't have to think about anything (except preparing Thanksgiving dinner) until Saturday. I can live with that!
