See, the problem is that "zero tolerence" sounds good until you actually HAVE it

Hmmm...and to think I may never have been allowed to go to school!

Why didn't somebody tell me.

But seriously, it seems that if a child has a little bit of imagination these days, they are considered to be dangerous! Do people really want robots?

A number of years ago, a young boy was suspended for kissing a girl on the cheek. He was about 5 or so, but was suspended for "sexual harrassment".

It's all video games' fault! If they didn't have those damn violet games, none of this would happen. And music too! Songs about killing people, sheesh! And not to mention television, the source of all that is evil. The 4th graders were just practicing their plan for the big day when they come to Elementary school packing heat and waste some kindergardeners.

Seriously though, that's f***ed up. What kind of stupid teacher would do that? THEY'RE IN 4TH GRADE! I mean, have some common sense... Such idiocy like this just pisses me off.

If it makes anybody feel better, I'm finishing a program that certifies new teachers this next year at a school known pretty well (in my geographic area) for training good teachers... and the conclusion that we've reached is that zero tolerance policies are crap and should be replaced by the "tough as neccessary" policies (where the consequences fit the severity of the infraction). There is hope for the future...

What ever possessed you to think that schools were places where thought takes place?! Most schools and school policies are about one thing--follow all the rules to the letter, no matter how little sense they might make.
