Well, sometimes getting what you want makes you realize the things you gave up to get it. When you reach forth for something with so much dedication, it's easy to miss something along the way.

Here's some points to ponder:

1. If, perhaps and but never got any person anywhere.
2. The greatest successes in life often come from trying what others have called the impossible.
3. Never risk more than you can afford to lose.
4. A reproach from which you learn something is better than praise you haven't deserved.
5. Twenty jobs half done are not worth one well done.
6. Difficult tasks are often the easy tasks we left undone when we should have done them.
7. Life is what happens to us when we are making other plans.
8. If you've made your mind up that you can't do something - you're absolutely right.

As you can all see I'm not yet a cynic!

Life is a combination of high ideals and compromising those ideals for reality.

And don't forget to live your life in the present.
Sometimes it is hard not to live in the past and the future and remember that hey ! life is right her, right now !

I'm very sentimental and have many dreams and so have had to work hard on applying that piece of wisdom of yours Moiraine, particularly in my current circumstances. Good advice though.

Hey, has anyone here read the book of Proverbs? That, and some writings of Confucious contain sayings like Memnochs. I know of buisinessmen who swear by Sun Tsu as well.

Lets not forget the cliche "Don't play with fire, lest you get burned". It took me a while to finally learn that one! They say curiousity killed the cat. Glad I'm not a cat!

Book of proverbs, I pass, sorry !

Living in the present an advice I give myself every morning, since I have a slight tendancy to live in memories, and since when trying to foresee the future, I seem to have a vivid imagination about ALL the very logical reasons why something good happening to me may (and so inevitably will) go wrong ...

Yeah. "Pride cometh before destruction; a haughty spirit before a fall." 16:18. I've got a whole drawer full of little lessons and 'words of advice', mostly scrawled on coasters, napkins etc. My favourite is probably either;
"There's often no advantage in voicing an opinion. Displaying it to others may very well result in it breaking - and being wrong is something people find very hard to come to terms with. In other words, know when to shut up."
...or;
"If a sentence really needs to include the words 'no offense,' how about just keeping it to yourself?"

Hmmm sounds like
"Better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and confirm it."

Hey Armisael, no offense but...

I forgot this... 'Learning to Live is Learning to let go'.

Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

Never give up on anybody. Miracles happen everyday.

Think big thoughts, but relish small treasures

Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.

Don't major in minor things

Never cut what can be untied

Leave everything a little better than you found it.

Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

That's it... and in tagalog... Memnoch shall read.

"Kung oras mo, oras mo!" hehe
