I like bg more than diablo, but when you have a really good item in diablo like tall rashas mask,( or the whole set) u feel much more sattisfied than when you have a good "set" of items in bg

Yes, when you find a set of items in Diablo 2 it is much more satisfyng than in BG2 not only beacause they influence play more, you can trade them on Battle.Net and it repays for a long time of searching.

Isn't it a little biased to compare diablo 2(an action game) and BGII(a role playing) on a site that is pro role playing and pro BGII.

Just one thing. Consider the cheat/hack factor. In D2 (and D1 for the matter), when someone cheats it makes the game worthless. In BG2, a little hack would not hurt, but minorly effects the game. In D2 someone is capable of killing you with a simple click (while having their hacks activated). While in BG2, you would actually have to summon something (CLUAConsole) or create a scroll, which takes time. Also, this theory of dieing and being resurrected in town, why (and how?) There are many things about D2 that irritate me, but BG has always been there when I was down.

BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!! BGII !!!

Alright, my purist opinion-
Neglecting computer requirements, monitors, sound blasters, or bugs...

I think D2 doesn't stand a chance when polling against BGII, though I still think lots of people will vote D2 since its a better selling game!

[Do not be anguished by my comments D2 lovers, I just said it with my own thoughts, nothing concerning you guys!]

um. has anybody noticed that D2's target audience is basicaly "the people who cant handle full on RPG like BG" plus those that dont want to. i admit, i played and enjoyed them both - but to get a full set on D2 items in one game is near impossible - and going through again, even on a harder skill level, its just like, why?

basicaly d2 will gather dust for years, while BG1 will get cleaned off every time i take a party through BG2 and need to start a new one. i might solo through them both. is it possible to get a monk in BG1? i know youd need a patch to do it.the point if BG2 has more variety and longetivity. its just better. although you dont get to paint the dungeon in arterial red, but i can live without that.

I think they are not comparable enough though

Diablo 1 and 2 are hack and slash with skill/level gaining
(It is basic enough to be able to make a console version I reckon which says it all really)

BG series is a more involved game altogether which isn't all about "if it moves kill it", there is a lot of interaction, places to visit.....is just way more
