Where's a good place to get into a good play by e-mail game? How about a play by post game on a message board?

There aren't determined times when the games start here. If you check in periodically you might find a game which is just starting.

you can also PM the person running the game (usually but not always the person who starts the thread) and ask if you can get in, this works well for games that are already underway that interest you. Please show respect for the game however, and read a fair amount of the thread so that you'll know what kind of character would fit the game best, ie in a pirate game, a ninja just wouldn't work (as ninja's and pirates are natural enemies, and kill each other on sight).

The Forum Guidelines at the top of this page, made as a sticky-thread should have enough information detailed there to answer questions such as this.

Also, what the others have said here is good advice.
