Re: The All New, All Exciting Music Thread!
I can advise Switchfoot to those who want to hear an alternative band, but not gothic/death metalish. They're just... rocky. And I like them, even though they're a tad bit 'fabricated'.

Been listening to my whole media library on random for the past few hours, right now the song playing is Opeth - Master's Apprentices. Nothing beats good scandinavian metal.

Re: The All New, All Exciting Music Thread!
So how exactly did this one turn from a "recommend good music" to a "what are you listening now?" thread?
Anyway, I saw the Cat Empire live a few months ago, they were pretty good. The whole swing thing is 10 years late for its last revival, but it's entertaining nonetheless. |

Lately I've been listening to a bunch of real oldies. I've been converting my old vinal LP to CD. Lot of comidy, old music and classicals.

I'm tempted to strangle you for saying that, but sadly you're right. French rock music is generally lacking (nonexistent). Noir Desir are, IMO, pretty much the only decent band to emerge.
Speaking of foreign bands, Leningrad are a good Russian ska group, though they've been banned from performing in Moscow for their overly-rude lyrics (keeping in mind that western swearing is a lot milder than eastern swearing ). |

My deepest sympathy goes out to you.
They are quite possibly the worst "Product" of the Australian music industry. I hope you won't pass judgement on the rest of us based on them. As for me, getting back into some old Megadeth! |

Haven't listened to any music recently, but i've had Ministry going through my head all day. Isn't it cool how your brain can make music sound better when you can't actually hear it? Schizos make me jealous.

If you go a slight bit heavier, there is Adagio, The Old Dead Tree, Manigance, etc...Adagio are decently known in prog metal circles, while the others I just picked up while going to concerts, as they were the openers to well known foreign bands.

I did enjoy A.S Dragon's album Spanked though, so some French rock seems to reach an International audience.

Oh you git! I went last year, but just didn't have the money this time around. GUTTED. Really wanted to go as well. :'( Loads of people I know are going though. Although I didn't think the line-up was that good this year, I was tempted by The Arcade Fire and Jimmy Eat World. Saw Lemon Jelly there, best gig I've ever been to. Quote:
Less than Jake have just come on Shuffle - Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts. As for me, check out my band, if anyone has the time and fancies a listen. Let me know what you think: Piano, Bass, Drums, Saxophone and 4 Vocals. CLICKY HERE
