Hallo everyone, I'm baaa~aack And with an interesting story to share... please everyone share this with your friends and family, it really burns me up when people do this...
A woman called and addressed me by name, and said she worked for the "National Verification Agency," then gave me her employee number, her phone number, and her name. She then told me that my checking account information was found on a public computer and they were trying to remove it. Then she asked me for my checking account information. When I pointed out to her that if she has my information, then she should be able to read it to me, she hung up. Of course doing *69 just got a blocked number, and calling the bank was no help... there really is no way of stopping these jerks other than by word-of-mouth. So please...PLEASE warn your friends and family about this... I hate people who try to take advantage of other people. Thank you for reading [ 05-18-2005, 03:34 PM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ] |

Oh sheesh, guess the internet is not enough for the jerks, now they are calling people on the phone?!
I get a lot of those scams btw very similar, but only via emails so far. Not that any of these idiots will ever fool me, although I laugh at their attempts. I get so many mails with names in them, i.e., "Why did Jeremy not show up?" or "Why did Sam not show up" or "Julia says leave tomorrow" or "Why did Sean do that?" |

I guess it would be kinda hard for me to resist any e-mails that say something in the line of "hey buddy...want a beer ? Click here". I won't fall for anything else though.

I usually urinate into the reciever to cleanse my phone of telemarketing filth. Or I play along, hit on them the whole call, because they did call you.

hehe, thanks Dplax. Yeah, finally summer time... plan on sticking around for much longer... now that I have my first year of college under my belt, I think I can work on that... how do you say.. "multi-tasking." I'm going to try to continue rping and participating on IW this coming school year, but 'til then, I'm just chilling out... well, except for this mega house cleaning and garage sale business.. eesh... *holds up three bandaged fingers from "safety pins"* those pins are false advertisement
Back to the spam phone call, what makes it worse is that I'm on that dont-call-me-or-I-kill-you-dead! list for telemarketers... meh. And on a funny note, if you google "National Verification Agency," one of the first things to pop up is an article about ethics... go figure... edit: Quote:
