I just got Morrowind for Christmas, and it requires 32-bit true color. My system can only go to 24-bit true color. Is this a moniter problem, or something less serious? I really want to play the game, and would hate to take it back, but don't have the $$ for a huge overhaul.

Hmmm are you sure? I assume you tried going to display properties and setting the display to 32-bit colour? If that option is not available then either you have a very crap graphics card or you don't have the correct or newest drivers installed for it which would enable it to display 32-bit colour.

very likely that I have a crap graphics card. Computer is about 4 years old and the only thing I've done to it is install a bit of memory. So what do I need to do?

Could you post the full stats here, if you know them? And if your PC is 4 years old and you try to run Morrowind...good luck is all I'll say. That's a pretty high spec game, and I'm not sure whether you'll have any luck getting it to work. That's my personal pessimissm though. Good luck!

Lol, well, click on the start bar, click "Run" and type (exactly how it is spelled here) "dxdiag"...this only works if you have DirectX, and you'll find out if it doesn't run...from there you should be able to get most of the specs, like Processor speed and such.

Hard drive size?

And the type of graphics card...if you can of course. You haven't updated it since you got the PC?

19 GB (8 free, and I have installed Morrowind, which said it required 1 GB of free space). Where do I find out what my graphics card is? No,I have only added in some memory-nothing else.

OK, don't worry about your graphics card...well, if it doesn't let you go up to 32-bit colour, the only way is to get a better graphics card, and I know it sounds crappy, as they're really expensive...I'm really sorry I can't help, but if the hardware doesn't let you...maybe someone else on the board knows, but I seriously doubt you can do anything as the colour type really does depend on the graphics card...

You did change it through the Display settings? The drop-down box won't show you a 32-bit option? I'm really sorry man...

EDIT: Ah wait, maybe you could update the drivers...just a sec, cos I'll need your grpahics card specs for that...
