With transparent animations there certainly seems to be. Take a look at armagedon272's now transparentised signature... I seem to remember you saying making it transparent in Fireworks makes it alot bigger (to the point of pushing the filesize restriction). I count... 2.1 kb . Wow. Ergo, one of these three things must be true:
1) You didn't try to compress it when you exported with a transparency.
2) Fireworks' compression algorithms aren't as good as the ones used to compress armageddon's transparent sig.
or
3) You're lying about the size difference.

Now, I think I know which you will be more likely to agree with.

I never said anything about Armageddon's sig size, I said MY sig would be too big if made transperrant, when I made his I had no idea how to make them transperant, nor how to compress, but now I do, and thats how I managed to keep mine under the limit, it was normally about 270kb

Now that's odd, I do seem to remember you saying it was the same problem with both not that long ago. But, that doesn't matter, I can still prove you wrong... if I can find one last little bit of data...

Oooh! So this means you know how to do transparencies now?

I don't suppose you could possibly transparitise my sig? Then I can use it on forums...

BTW, I love the addition to your sig!
