Some of you in America might have heard about the brush and arsenist fires that are consuming the socal area. Well in all my life here we've never before been threatened by fire, but this time we are. Theres a brush fire more or less directly behind my house, so this whole area has had to evacuate. I'm at my aunts house now, which is only a couple minutes down the road, with my snake and my dog and her puppies. I just wanted to let everyone know if i happen to be gone for awhile, that is likely the reason. At this point i think our house is safe, but we got the santa anna winds really bad so theres no telling

Sorry to hear that Jen... I hope the fire won't catch your house. Did you say arsenist? What cruel fool would start a fire this close to cilized areas? I hope they catch the bastard!

Humm, so exhausted. My bro just woke me up from the sleep i was having and said i should probably stay awake cause a couple new fires have started in other locations. Sounds like the fire hasnt reached my house yet, but i'm really worried it might have gotten my best friends house.

Zuv, this particular fire wasn't started by an arsenist, but by the weather conditions here in SD. Weather has been in the triple digits with low humidity...PLUS the wind, which is probably what started this one. The arsenist fire is closer to Los Angeles. The news was saying it would take fire fighters at least two weeks to get it under control. I hope its not the same for this one.

And thanks guys, im sure everything will be fine

Jen, I know it is hard to take, but possesions can be replaced, maybe not exactly what you had, but lives can never be, so worry more about your self, and know that everyone here cares about you, I am truely sorry, and wish there was something we all could do. if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, I am sure some of us will do our best to help you

Thanks stormy, i preciate it

But actually, the fire has moved away from our home for good it seems, so we're getting our animals and heading back. I spoke to my friend and it turns out his house only got mildly torched, like just the wall by his room, so im happy that hes ok.

I'll see you guys later, and will definatley keep you updated if anything else happens

Be safe LadyBlue!

It's so hard to believe that people would deliberately light fires. Most of the serious bushfires that have occurred where I live in the past few years have been arsonists - usually kids who think they're being cool. A couple of years ago we watched from our house as the nature reserve about 300 metres down the road from us, that we used to walk our dog in, burned up, taking all the wildlife with it. That fire was set deliberately.
