I use WindowsMe, and have not had any problems, it starts up faster shuts down faster, runs faster.

Moiraine: have you benn to the Microsoft update page, they have not realeased "service pack" but thewy have released some . Try that, if you haven't already, and any fixess or what ever can be downloaded.

Sylent try the link and do the upgrades, if you haven't already.

I use ME, after using 95 and 98.

ME is fine, and I have had no real problems.

It sucks, run Win2K. Much faster, much more stable and the Kernell is more similar to what XP is going to be running.

I tried it when it first came out, and it didn't last through the day. In my opinion, either run 98SE or 2K service pkg 2.

I got the internet up and running last night, so I should be able to download all of those patches and upgrades that are around.
It seems to be running alright at the moment, and it has had less errors than this beast (running 98), but it is early days yet.
I also managed to setup a network between the computers, which is always handy.

Thanx everyone for all of their replies, its really handy to know what everyone thinks, so as I can expect the worst, if it is to come.

I have winME, win2k, and winXP installed on my system.
i spend most of my time in either winME or winXP (beta testing, btw throne of bhaal works fine in XP )
and as i've said before, and i'll say again (also from a professional point of view) i have no problem with Windows ME that i havent had with any other os.
it does have a lot of advantages over Win98 (hardware support, more built in capabilities. and win98 bug fixes.)
Of course with more Capabilities comes more complication. The more you can do the more you can Screw it up. i deal with problems with computers every day with every possible version of windows. They all have problems. Of course the single greatest cause of the problems is the User. and with a bad user any os is doomed. the reason i love winME is because i can fix so many of the user created issues. it has more problem solving measures than any previous os.
Granted, win2k is a good os. very strong and very stable.
But WinME is very good to. unfortunatly it has gotten very bad press. Of course people always believe the hype. They hear its bad, then they start messing with it and screw it up and they instanly go "They where right, this is crap"
Win ME is more of a win98 3rd edition than a winME 1st edition
To sum it all up, Given the choice and the thousands of calls i've taken, i'll stick with my winME. (until the release of the full version of winXP ) its an awsome blend of winME and win2k

I was actually discussing the differences between ME and 2000 the other day so I'm fairly fresh on the topic. ME is basically 98. It's actually more buggy. My brother recently got Windows 2000 and it works WONDERFULLY! The only downfall is that it doesn't support old Dos programs very well. This is because Dos is now eliminated, essentially. ME really isn't worth it, because 2000 is simply better. 98 is the better buy. However, if you don't have any troubles with ME, well, as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I almost lost everything on my computer in upgrading from 98 to ME. I spent over $70 in phone calls to the halp desk and was saved only by dong a parallel install finally. It crashes more often, locks up more often, and just ticks me off in general. I will get something else with my new computer.

There is certainly a mixed response here.
ME must clash with certain systems or something. At the moment it is still working fine, and shuts down and loads up much faster (twice as fast as on this). I haven't really pushed it by installing any programs yet though, so I once again I can't really say.
I usually have a tendancy to fiddle with things I don't entirly understand, which often leads to $crewing things up. I'll try to leave it to the techie's.
