I find it funny that certain accents are always ascribed or identified with ignorance or laziness. In America this roughly translates into the idea "I don't speak that way so you are wrong and dumb." It isn't partisan politics that brings this out either. Jimmy Carter was also lambasted for his speech pattern. After all, we know that it isn't what you say but how you say it that is important.

Ahhh yes .... the most important things about a presentation

70% - how you look
20% - how you sound
10% - what you actually say

Yes, as Hitler proved. He screamed into the mike at length, and very seldom said a darned thing, yet he changed the world...

Except I think that goes more towards saying that when dealing with people, the charisma of the speaker far exceeds the content of the message...

Let Bush say whatever he wants to, it´s more entertaining this way.

I was also going to say lots of people, especially from the south, say nuk-u-lar. It's accent and dialect as much as mis-pronuncation. I'll find myself saying it sometimes if I'm speaking quickly, and I'm from New England! It just runs out that way.

My dad is one of the smartest people I know, he has mulitple masters degrees, and is a master tax preparer for HR Block, and is one of the few people I know who can read faster than I; having said this, he is physically incapable of saying Colorado or Potato correctly. They are always "Codorado" and "Bodado" or "Bodada." Even if he tries. He can say Color, he can say Ado, but he can't say Colorado.

I don't pay much heed to his accent and how he pronounces words. I can understand what he is saying better than our bilingual PM.

Naah harley, I allow Timber a lot of freedom using my willow stick. He has earned it with his hefty work schedule. You know, leaving this office to pick up donuts and then return and go through the ordeal to put his feet on his desk.

I voted no, since Bush shouldn´t be judged by his pronunciation. As long as you can understand what he says...
