Just a couple questions...

1) Is there a conversation skill that is more useful than the others?

2) How many skill points is enough in these?

3) Are there any magical items whose acquisition depends on successful usage of a conversation skill? (spoilers anticipated, but a yes or no answer and the skill involved would be enough - I don't need to know the specifics)

I assume that the game can be completed without having these maxed out, or even without having these at all (losing out on some XP, though).

I'm thinking about a party to go HoF with, and I'm trying to do some pre-planning.

As far as I saw, 90% of the time when you could use a dialog skill, you could use any of the 3.

For example, let's say an npc is blocking your way. You could:

Intinimade him with a skill of intimidate 12
Bluff and tell him you have permission with a skill of 15
Use diplomacy tell him you just want to take a look and will touch nothing with a Diplomacy skill of 10

You do lose some opportunity if you don't raise those. Just use a bard/paladin/sorcerer as your talker and raise his dialog skill.

Actually, I find the rogue the best talker, because he gets all the conversation skills as class skills, and the aboundance of skill points. How much is enough? Well... about 25 I think, noone in the game needs more than that. The skills are equally represented and in requirement. About magical items, there are some that you will miss out on, even on the very start of the game.
