Hey Peoples again,

i'm actually getting a hang of this whole hex editing and stuff. I'm like doubling items and all that stuff.

but now down to real business, does anyone know the codes for the MAVIN SWORD (dramatic music) .

If anyone could supply this i would be eternally grateful

thanks MJG

Hope I got all the 00 correct!

It is possible to "Hack" items in W&W using a hex editor - read the Wyvern's Emporium thread (I made it a sticky thread yesterday so it's in the top 5). That thread explains how to go about hacking an item.

This is just a "simple" replacement hack - replacing the code for a common item for the code for a valuable/wanted item. Of course to make this work, you have to know the code. I collected the codes for a number of items that players asked me to hack for them. Never had anyone ask for the Mavin Sword but I have so many save files from one person or another, it wasn't difficult to find the code. This only works for items - you must have the code and you also should have space in your characters inventory to hold the item you are trying to hack.

If you decide to give it a try BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILE!!!

Some codes are longer than others - especially for items that have various enchantments and damage modifiers. So many item codes you get past the first 20 hex couplets and the rest is all 00 00s until the next item code.

I know at one time I did have a basic understanding of exactly where the damage modifiers were in a code - and I recall bumping the damage on the assassin's dagger but you do have to be careful. Place it wrong and weird things can happen. Somewhere, I think in one of Saz' Gael Serran Examiners there is a photo of one of my assassin dagger mistakes. lol!!

Wyv, I still remember you hacked me the everdisappearing Shroud. You are the greatest W&W hacker in all of eternity.

Btw, what hex editor do you use?
