I am just starting NWN right now and wanted to ask 3 questions.

My first question is: where is search link? I was not here for almost one year and I can find that tool (and that is why I am asking my next 2 questions).

My second question is what is basically more important (for fighter type character) charisma or persuade skill. I want to be dwarven fighter with high persuade (I will take about two levels as rogue and put plenty of skill points for persuade skill). Does low charisma affect PC significantly (lowers some skills, higher prices, but it is OK) - will charisma equal to 6 prevent my character from doing something? getting quests, talking with people?

Do you think that 16 STR, 12 Dex, 18 Con, 8 Wis, 14 Int, 6 Cha is OK?
It seems to me that lowering con by 1 to get 2 cha does not make significant
difference for Cha. Also 14 Dex does not make sense for fighter with heavy armor but I will not get dodge and mobility, do you think that these two feats are essential, will I be able to get these feats increasing my Dex by potion, magical item? or willing to have dodge and mobility I will have to sacrifice skill point (at lvl 4 or 8?)

Thanks for answering and patience

I hadn't noticed the search button was gone, but I don't see it either.

I'm playing a fighter and My charisma is a 6, and I have very little in the Persuade skill. 2 or 3 points maybe. I just threaten to kill them when persuade fails...lol. I'd say it would be simpler to put points into persuade than to spend points on Charisma. You'll start off with a -2 adjustment for Charisma based rolls, but if I remember correctly, each added point in persuasion will add a point to that, so 2 Persuade skill points will bring that reaction up to 0, and 2 more bring it up to +2. So for 4 skill points you bring your reaction to the level it would be if you had 13 or 14 Charisma. Skill points are much cheaper than attribute points especially if you're going to devote some from your Rogue levels to Persuade.

The 14 Intelligence will give you more skills each level and help with certain saving throws, but you may want to just go with 12 if your primary focus is going to be as a fighter. I see your point on Dexterity and if your going to use heavy armor you will lose lots of the benefits of a 14, but I don't use the feats in question yet. I went with a 15 DEX so I could get the Ambidextrious skill and use it with Dual welding. Not to mention that as a part Rogue you'll pick up some pretty neat skills to help.

I'd say your character looks pretty good

Thanks, I dont want to dual wield so I will stick with Dex 12. I start with Rogue so I got 40 skill points for start and at rogue lv2 I will get evasion and next 10 skill points - I think it is small price for 1 feat and little lower attack modifiers.
I was wandering about inteligence but it seems to me that with 12 I will get only 3 skill points fer level (little small to cover even fighter skills) and these 2 ability points can not be turned into Str nor CON, just DEX or Int.

That's actually a pretty good way of looking at it. I spent the points on DE for AMB & Dual and I'm not evening using it. I'm still carrying a Great AXE...LOL

Don't forget the skill called skill focus(or something similar). You can choose a skill to focus on, and it's like adding 3 skill points instead of just the 1. This will be a nice way to boost your Persuade skill. Of course, it doesn't stack, so you can only use it once per skill.

Good to see you, too

I'd lover the Con to 16 (or even 14) - since you get extra HP (10+con-bonus) at every lvl (and not just until lvl 9 as in 2nd ed.) you will have plenty of HP. As a fighter you will also get plenty of feats, so you can always choose Toughness to get some more.

The High INT for more skillpoints is an extremely good idea - it will give you many more oppotuneties as the game progesses.

You're right about a fighter in heavy armor not needing a high DEX score, but I would still raise it to 13, because there are several feats (dodge and mobility for starters) that require DEX=13.

Use the extra points to raise the other characteristics to avoid negative modefiers - they can become annoying.

EDIT:
My human fighter started with
STR 16, DEX 13, CON 13, INT 14, WIS 10, CHR 10, - at lvl 4 I chose +1 CON and after that it was + to STR.

I don't have that one yet, but it's on my wish list! I'm a 4th level fighter/2nd level rogue, and I'm just now finishing up the final district of the first chapter.

Disarm is one I really want. I fought a Dire Spider, and every other hit he knocked me down or knocked my weapon out of my hand.
