I really think this is nothing, but it looks dreadful. I apparently having a broken blood vessel in my eye. As many of you know, I am on massive amounts of coumadin because I have Hughe's Syndrome and have had heart-valve replacement surgery. The thing is, on my right eye, the outer half from the iris back is solid blood. I don't mean my eye is bleeding or anything like that, it is just solid blood in the eye (bright red and looks awaful). It doesn't hurt and I am seeing OK. The funny thing is it was there when I woke up this morning. I don't know what I could have done in my sleep.

It will go away eventually I think> Of course I have had a bruise on my arm for four weeks and it has gone away slowly.

Just to clarify, being on the blood thinners I bruise if I even bruch against something. It just hasn't happened before in my eye and I am a little weirded out about it.

I'm thinking watch it for a few days and see if it gets better or worse. Am I being a worrykins here over nothing?

BTW, I don't want to go to the doctor. I would have to take time off work and they never seem to tell me anything good.

well afaik you just broke a small vain in our eye in which case your eye will turn red
aslong as it doesnt get worse i dont think there's any real concern other then your eye looking a bit freaky at the moment
If this doesnt go away slowly though, you should go to the docter, but you probably figured that out yourself

Normally, it probably wouldn't be an issue but seeing (no pun intended) as you're on blood thinners I would be concerned and pay your local MD a visit.

I agree with Animal. Normally it wouldn't be something to worry about - I've had a red eye like that many times, I guess more often than others since there's a scar in my eye. It's just a tiny vein that's sprung, nothing to worry about. But since you're on blood thinners, I would have it checked out to be on the safe side. Maybe you can consult a doctor through telephone first, so you might not even have to take time off of work? If you explain you have a sprung vein in your eye and are on bloodthinners, the doctor may know enough to help you without you having to come in his office.
Good luck!

Tell us if it clears up.

Question Mark

Yes you should be concerned. It would be wise to pay a visit to the doctor just to reasure yourself.
If i was in your case, I would go.

I hope it is nothing at all, but hey, let's not have consequences.

The others are right, Reeka, you need to have your Prothrombin Time checked. If that's OK, it's nothing to worry about.
