I agree that a joke is a joke. Shrug it off, no worries.

BUT

Sometimes it's not so much a matter of being gormlessly PC but rather just having a little tact and consideration for how other people feel. I get pissed of when people stereotype me (although having said that, the fact that I get pissed off is my personal problem and I have to deal with it), so I try not to stereotype others; especially where violence is involved.
The big deal that is getting made over this is pretty pointless. However, ganging up on the people that do have a problem with it and trying to make them feel stupid is pretty pathetic too.
Just chill hombres.

Thanks Johnny, I was trying to be nice about it after all. I don't want to attack anyone, or belittle their views. I just don't think its especially funny or helpful to go completely overboard like this. Saying "Followers of Osama are liable to get their skanky, towel-headed, asses blown to smithereens by the US" is not simply pointing out that Americans don't like Al-Queda. It goes a long way past that and into the realms of barbarism. Something I was led to believe by many on this board and in real life that the US public was actually trying to avoid.

I have nothing agianst the US and its people. I am not some random PC thug wittering on about everything that could be construed as offensive. This is pretty isolated for me, and I also think that it is pretty justified considering what would happen if some kind of anti-thesis to this cartoon were posted (you know the kind of thing I am refferring to).

And for all of you who have had thier sensibilities offended by my comments just remember - you aren't the ones getting flamed for them, and frankly I am not stopping you looking at this kind of stuff either.

well, actually, i thinks its rather funny. after all, humour is meant to be irreverent and sometimes even offensive. for the most part, its the left-leaning humor the one that gets censored. i think pc is really a pain in the ass, even more when its used as a weapon against liberals (though liberals in the us do have a big fault in this). real leftwingers are the least pc correct people you will ever find, at least in the circles i move in.

what i also find funny is seeing all this parodies of bin laden "guaranteed death"... guess it wasnt so easy after all. oh, and that site is great. it has lots of pics on different people. check out the george bush section... priceless! [img]graemlins/laugh2.gif[/img]

I agree entirely on that last point. I really, as a general rule, hate the use of the term PC. Its used to simply mean any restriction on what you can say, no matter what the original reason. If you object to anyone saying anything you are just being PC as far as quite a lot of people are concerned.
