I've never bought an expansion pack for ANY computer game, and it kinda irks me that I have no clue what throne of bhaal is about. So, what is it about? DOes your choice at the end of SoA affect ToB? And should I do my multiplayer game with my friend before I do Throne of Bhaal, or should I play it before we play, or should we both install it and play through both (Then our adventure would be as new to me as it is to him)?

You have no real choices at the end of SoA, but what you do have has an effect.

Its best to install ToB before starting the game, in fact I would say that its wise to *never* play SoA without ToB installed, ToB adds some useful features. Such as TAB highlighting of objects, saves all that mouse-sweeping. And a number of other bugfixes.

ToB itself is less an expansion than a sequel - it adds the conclusion to the plot, without it you dont get to see how the Prophecy plays out. And its very good fun as well.

I'm with Andrewas on this you should most definetly buy it and play it together with your friend. I like Andrewas never play SOA without TOB installed as it adds alot of new features including a new kit the wild mage. Also in SOA you can acsess a new dungeon called watchers keep(you can also do it in the TOB areas if you so wish) which I think is the best dungeon in the Baldur's Gate series so I emphatically say yes buy it!

To summarize: Throne of Bhaal is the closest thing to Baldur's Gate III that you'll get. Yes, definitely pick it up! It adds the last three chapters to the game, several new areas, the Watcher's Keep dungeon (an optional XP arena with tons of goodies), and a great plot conclusion at the very end. Where can you get it? Tried Amazon and Gameplay and both don't stock it at the moment.
