Canadian experience in States

My next door nieghbor just got back (I live 20 min. north of the American border) from driving down the coast to San Francisco. She said she had never felt more out of place. She had her car spit on because it had Canadian plates on it. They were constantly being fingered as they drove down the highway, they were refused funds while trying to cash a travellers check. On her way back she stopped in at gas station and the attendant looks at her and says "we're not very happy with you folks right now) !!! She was furious by this time so she pays him, looks back at him and says "maybe you shouldn't start wars you cant finish!"

Have any other Canadians run into this while visiting our southern "nieghbors"?

I AM NOT US BASHING...but GENERALLY people in the US are less tolerant than Canadians. I was talking to friends of our family who visited the US and people kept telling them to go back to their wussy, non-war supporting country.

Actually it was from Washinton state all the way down. I have visited the states all my life and loved it...its a beautiful country. But I must admit the last few years have started to sway my mind about our...(hence quotations) "neighbors"

sounds like an unfortunate string of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I personally dont know any fellow citizens that have anything against Canada and being so close to the border we get alot of traffick both ways around here.
