No problem Larry.

I've been researching a bunch of this stuff myself so I've got a ton of it bookmarked.

You might check this site out: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/
I just found it and am still looking thru it but it's got a LOT of info.
Might be worth checking out.

Looks like you gave me some homework for tonight.
I went to Sears today and took the wife with me. Glad I did...she decided on her own that 46in was not big enough for our wall and asked me to get the 55in instead. No problem!
With that, we'll get a Samsung sound bar and a decent mounting rack. Still have not decided on a BluRay player yet, but am investigating the ones that were mentioned here previously.
About HDMI cables...although reps from Sears and Best Buy try to tell me that the more expensive, the better, there is more than one electronics testing website that say NOT to spend all that money because cheap ones do the job just as well. I actually just recently bought one called MediaBridge Ultra with Ethernet from Amazon.com. At 6ft, I only spent $9.00. Supposedly, it is the new standard. It supports 3D and audio.
Compare that to BestBuy's 5ft cable called AudioQuest, Chocolate model for $120! WTF? Must be paying for that silver coating on the copper they brag about. And I thought Monster cables would be the most expensive...they're mid-grade these days!

Uh oh...what will my coaxial cable screw onto coming from my antenna? I don't subscribe to any cable or satellite channels, but I want the free channels I get now. I do not recall seeing any coaxial connections...I saw digital coaxial on the back of a model BluRay device in the store, but that is a different head...

Take your wife out for dinner. She's a keeper. LOL

Check out the following HDMI cable guide.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7...-buying-guide/

The short answer is that you want a high speed HDMI cable. And you don't need to spend more than 5$ for one.

The TV should have an antenna coax input.

That's the input panel for a Samsung 46" LED - I don't think the 55" is substantially different.

Thank you for finding that image...the coaxial plug in looks like it is not the same type as what I'd need...I have the screw-on end that has the needle-like male part but the image you show here seems to be a slide-on antenna in with its own male pin. I guess I'll have to buy a converter...Radio Shack, here I come.
Oh...and this pic you shared today helps me realize that I can still plug up my old DVD player if I choose not to buy the BluRay until Christmas...but I have a DVD/VCR combo and the VCR part needs composite video. This image does not show a composite video RCA plug...just the red and white for sound. Darn and drat.
And where does the Wii plug in?????

You really need to double check the TV for the input connections. I think that picture might be for a much older version of the 6300s so treat it with EXTREME caution. I found a version where the connections look totally different. It has a screw type female coax input for the antenna lead. The only way you are going to know for sure is to actually look at the back of the TV. Even online manuals can be deceiving at times but that being said, here are two different manuals I found for the 6300 series Samsung

Check this out:
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/...sung/6300.html

and this:

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/441...55f6300af.html

They actually do NOT agree on what the input connections look like, so without the exact model, I'm stumped now.

Seriously go to best buy or sears and look at the back and double check.

I have no clue about the Wii. I don't use Wii, PS3 or Xbox.

Thanks. Wow...would not have guessed that one of the connectors on the back would be such an issue to get figured out but you're right...I'll just have to go grab one and look at it.
As for the BluRay, I am really leaning toward that Oppo model...but I don't know if I can convince my wife to let me go that far...she's more concerned with how we're going to get our old VCR tapes to play.

You're not going to like VCR played on an HDTV. Start budgeting in money to replace your collection of tape movies with disc movies. here are a couple of sites;

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_VHS_ta...layed_on_Hd_TV

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1035595/vhs-watchable-on-hdtv

To find out more google "play vhs on hdtv" and you will get a large laundry list of woes. Basically there is only so much you can do with a 480i native resolution.

Oh...well...I guess you saved me the surprise from finding out on my own! Whew...that would have been bad. Okay then.
