Nope, strange isn't it? I looked it up and the lowest temperature recorded here was -35 in 1965... there are far colder places than Iceland in this world...

Really?! I thought Iceland was like this little chunk of freezing temperatures. Even here we've gotten down to -43C, -44C once or twice in my lifetime.

Apparantly, the Vikings were among the first explorers to discover the two lands. They discovered that one was mostly a barren, frozen wasteland while the other was surprisingly warm for it's location. To decieve any future explorers that might try to find these lands and lay claim to them, they named the frozen one "Greenland" and the more temperate one "Iceland"....at least that's the story I heard. Don't know if it's true or not, but I thought it was pretty interesting.

I'm going to school in Calgary right now, however, and the weather there is annoying. it'll get nice and briskly cold for one day, and then it's above 0. I don't know if it's the green grass in February that bothers me or just the fact that Calgary weather can't seem to make up it's mind. why do we even bother with a forecast down there?

-25c tonight! We just had a big blizzard, 40-50cm. We were lucky and the wind did almost all the work of cleaning the driveway.
God is good!
