Golden Retrievers are awesome dogs.
I had one live next to me for many years in AZ.
Her name was Madeline and she wore a red bandana around her neck.
She was old when I bought my home there and six years later, she just never showed up at my fence one day or any other day after that. I did not know her owners but she was sorely missed by me, my son & our friends.
Her thing was tennis balls. She would drop them through a missing slat in the tall wooden fence so we could throw it back into her yard for her to fetch.

See? You can be *somewhat* normal, after all. Picking the right moment to be silly and the right moment to be serious is an art form and it all comes with experience.
