Sorry if this is old news here. I've been out of the loop except my seeking of advice for a good PC game. Anyway, Infogames will be publishing a new 3rd edition rules D&D RPG by Troika games that is supposed to come out this June 2003. They are utilizing the old Temple of Elemental Evil module from the PnP golden days of TSR. If anyone has played this module you know it was MASSIVE in scope. The lead designer is an avid D&D player. I'm sorry that I can't give you access to the article that is at Gamespot because I don't know how to do that! Here are some things that I remember quite distinctly in my read:

a. Alignment will play a significant role in the game.
b. An evil aligned party will be playable!
c. The game is to be nonlinear.
d. Tons of sidequests.
e. Quests can be completed in several ways.

* For those of us who remember the Greyhawk D&D world with fondness this is like music to our ears! What a tremendously immersive world it is.

Well considering that PoR2 was actually designed as the 3rd edition rules were still being hammered out (that is why there are no Gnomes in PoR2 because they weren't to be a race at outstart of 3E; only latter would they be added but by the time this was a "go" PoR2 was too far into production to add gnomes) and the fact that the game was handed off between several companies before Ubi finally published it, I don't think you'll have that mess with the new Greyhawk RPG. The game has already been in the works for over a year, the designers and publisher are the same from the beginning, and the designers are immersed with the original module setting. IWD2, though not the big seller one would hope, utilized the 3E rules pretty well and was a far cry from PoR2 horrible gameplay.

Of course, anything can happen. Greyhawk: The Temple of Elemental Evil can be great, average, or a flop. Nevertheless, it seems very promising. By the way PoR2 is set in the Forgotten Realms world; TToEE is set in the World of Greyhawk.

Hey, I'll buy it, even if it isn't Forgotten Realms. Any estimate on when it'll be out? EDIT: Whoops, now I see, June, 2003.
