You can't stay with mummy for ever. It's time you got a proper flag and ditched Lizzie! And while your at it you can compose a decent National Anthem - that matilda song just don't cut it!

What do we want?
Gradual change!
When do we want it?
In due course!

It's time for a revolution NOW!
The Aussies are revolting!
The Aussies are revolting!

Don't you live in London, Donut? And how did the queen of England begin to rule over Australia? I think it was because a LONG time ago the British Empire claimed Australia. Come on Aussies, it's time you stood up and said "We don't want you anymore!" Unless of course yo do... I don't know. Or are ya scared of the old woman

That's the spirit jaradu! They can't hang onto our shirt tails forever!

(BTW - I'm very big down under!)

The Aussies Love the English

The Aussies love the English, you might find it quite strange
'Cos we sent them all down under, with only balls and chains
And when they see the English, they always shout and scream
But when they had the chance to vote they voted for the Queen!

God save YOUR gracious Queen
Long live YOUR noble Queen
God save YOUR Queen (you're a convict)
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over YOU
God save YOUR Queen.

LMAO

Actually a couple of weeks ago the NSW branch of the CWA (Country Women's Association) decided to adopt Advance Australia Fair as their anthem and drop God Save the Queen. Fortunately the Qld branch are standing firm on GSTQ

When I saw the topic I thought it was a cryptic reference to my birthday (yesterday, if anyone's interested ), but I guess if you want something done, you have to do it yourself

Aelia, Advance Australia Fair has been the national anthem since 1984...

I guess the CWA are at the cutting edge of Aussie culture.

Ok, I feel convicted.

Despite singing an ad for the republican movement (as a session singer - they never asked me my politics) at the time, I voted for remaining with Lizzy.

Why?

If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Hmm...have the Pommies suffered their requisite monthly massive defeat in a sport somewhere then? Or is there impending bad news following England sport? That's the only reason for this pre-emptive strike by Double-Donut-Seven...

Ssssshh Memsie - I think the Olympics are coming up in a couple of months. I think he wanted to listen to something other than our favourite ditty at the medal presentations, hence his pre-emptive swipe to get us to change it .
