I have been playing through the game again to get to ToB with my old character, and since I am a powerful mage now, I thought I would see if the cowled wizards would really attack me for magic use if I didnt buy the permit yet like they threatened to in my last game. Sure enough they did, and boy are they powerful, but I was slaughtering them, (no great feat when you have great items and spells just as good as theirs so I cant take much credit) but anyway, they have good scrolls and stuff so I kept fighting them since it does not drop your rep. Finally, a group appears with these kickass guys with actual names, and they say like "now you will feel the wrath of the heads of our order" or something, and the guys try to dimension door away before you kill them. I killed them all, and then got the permit. So I was wondering, did I miss something? Is there some quest or storyline you can get if you keep killing the guys they send? It just seemed kind of random to have this little thing in there, and I wondered if there was more to it. Thanks

I have not heard of any quest or story-line in relation to the deaths of all Cowled Wizards. That doesn't mean that it don't exist, though.

I don't think a storyline is involved but I think they had to stop it at some point. Getting level 9 scrolls and decent xp as often as you wanted would be too good to be true.

I don't believe there is any storyline involving slaughtering the Cowled Wizards, but there is one kickass (so I hear) final wizard that will confront you sometime. I've never taken this route so I don't know how powerful he/she would be.

Level 30 is higher than Elminster or Jon Irenicus. And they have a problem keeping Jon in check?

If you kill enough cowled wizards (you'll need to rest or change screen after you kill each group) their leaders will appear, somerather high level mages who are quite a challenge to defeat... or at least they would be if my monk didn't have 108% magic resistance... life is good.

I think Keldorn is a good wizard slayer with a sword that gives out 50% magic resistance(Holy Avenger), and not to mention truesight and dispell magic (removes stoneskin and stuff).
