How are these "mediocre NBA players"?

Also compared to 2006 you added Carlos Boozer, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, Tayshaun Prince, Micheal Redd and Deron Jameson

I personally dont see how that makes the difference between mediocre NBA players in 2006 and superstars in 2008.
I never said we have superstars in 2008, maybe you should re-read my post. Most of these are mediocre players compared to the big three from the celtics, Elton Brand, Shaquille O'Neal, Ron Artest, Chauncey Billups, Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas, Shawn Marion, Chris Paul.

I mean of course you would probably think these guys are ALL superstars. But believe it or not our league actually has many better players. Dwight Howard is definitely mediocre.

Yea, right, if our players cared as much about the Olympics as they do for the NBA finals, we could probably use any of the teams that made it to the play offs and they would win the gold. But unfortunately not all of our players are up and willing to agree to a three year training (I think) for the Olympics.

its like basketball, but u cant dribble and you have to pass to another player to move the around. the ball is much smaller than a basketball, and the ring much bigger. theres no backboard

I have a feeling Boozer's going to get posterized by someone again this Olympics.

Dwight Howard is mediocre? Let's take a look at his playoff performance.

Against Toronto:
Game 1: 25 points, 22 boards, 6 blocks. Clearly a terrible performance.
Game 2: 29 points, 20 boards, 3 blocks.
Game 3: 19 points, 12 boards.
Game 4: 19 points, 16 boards, 8 blocks.
Game 5: 21 points, 21 boards, 3 blocks.

Against Detroit:
Game 2: 22 points, 18 boards, 2 blocks.
Game 3: 20 points, 12 boards, 6 blocks.
Game 5: 14 points, 17 boards, 3 blocks.

Dwight Howard was the single most dominant center in the NBA last year. He even out-performed Amare's center performance during the pre-Shaq trade, and Amare is one hell of a great player in the paint.

@Memnoch: yes, it really is a shame that some people decline to play for the USA team. I don't know if Rasheed Wallace was given an invite, but I'd love to see him out there. D'Antoni would have been a great help to a small ball team like this. I am curious to see how Krzyzewski positions his players.

yea, i went overboard when saying he is mediocre, but his ball handling skills are those of a 2 yr old, and his free throw percentage is low. look at his points each game, see how they are declining. anyone can do well against Toronto, they are a joke, but he was garbage against Detroit. you cant look at just stats and hope he will perform the same as he did in game 1 vs Toronto. he will get rebounds of course, he wont be a major force for team USA when playing against top teams of other countries.

ha, im a pistons fan, but rasheed is just a liability. he is a major distraction to his teammates and he under performs in major games. the only reason I would "love to see him out there" is to see him cuss at opponents, and scream ball dont lie. no, he wasn't given a invite.

Artest Billups and Arenas are not better then the crop of the current olympique setup. Shaq is long way in his decline. Marion played in 2004 and wasnt good enough there to be called back. Same for Brand in 2006. Chris Paul is good, for the first time this season. The only guys in your list that I think would really improve your squad are Allen, Garnett and Pierce.

celtics fans are we?

but you're right, better to have a team that works well together than superstars that will fight for possession of the ball. if you used the celtics, or DEEETROIIT PISTONS, they would definitely win gold.
