Getright (and other download managers) will allow you to resume the download if it gets interupted. It also claims to have some functions to speed up downloads, but on dialup this will kill every other thing your downloading, like IW for example. In any case, the advantage is usualy a few bytes per second, hardly measurable. SO leave that off.

Anyway, get a download manager and just wait. I've done >1Gb downloads over dialup, it just takes patience. Also, the immense phone line usage will annoy hell out of your parents and may convince them to pay at least part of the DSL bill.
