I have a couple of computors I'm looking at getting for my birthday....I'd like your opinions as to which I should choose. Thanks!

Yea, I'm thinking strongly about that one, but I'm worried about the hard drive...do you think 60 is too low?

Gateway 700XL and get it custom built to have 2 gigs of ram and a top of the line Nvidia GeForce 4. But wait until about a week before your birthday to order it, by then they'll have probably added couple hundred more mhx on it unless its comming up in a month or so...

Upgrade the Dell. Way better tech support and stuff. Gateway's parts don't work too well together, or so I've heard. They're all sweet though. See if you can't find an Athlon XP 2000+ system though. The processors and mobos are about $200 cheaper. You still can't go wrong though.

this is the reason:- 256mb ram. I reqiure at least 512mb, AT LEAST.
Appart from that, they are all fine machines. 256mb ram will be enough for games, but you may encounter slow frame rates at times at higher resolutions.

Ok... well Dells arent the best computers unfortunetly they frequently crash and if I was to say "Get a computer now" i'd say "go with a falcon, like mine" because there simply isn't anything better outside of buying 25 G4 units and putting them onto a Rack for the now low low price of JUST $125,000 -_-

first of all, i'd recommend a computer with spell check

secondly the statement that "Dells arent the best computers unfortunetly they frequently crash" is ridiculous. Frequent crashes are caused by two things: an uncommon mechanical failure of a component, or frequent operator malfunction.
