Do you have the Half-Orc Barbarian with you? Or the Monk? If you do have them run up to the bad guy and start pounding, so he won't be able to complete that spell.

The best melee types are the barbarian and the monk, but you'll also find a bard, cleric, and an sorcerer at the Trade of Blades. You should have already met Tomi, the rogue, when you left the Hall of Justice. The cleric is in the room to the NE, the bard is in the room to the NW, the monk is in the center room to the North. The barbarian is to the W in the main room and the sorcerer(I almost missed him) is in the NE corner of the main room, against the Eastern wall. [ 10-05-2002, 03:25 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ]

You only have one NPC with you at a time, right? (there are hacks out there that allow you to use 2 at the time, use their inventory, etc.)
Eventually, you'll want to use them all, at least a bit, because they each have quests for you. Just make sure that everytime you level up, you pick up all your NPCs long enough to talk him/her through the next part of their story. They only tell it one piece at the time, so if you've leveled up quite a bit since the last time you talked with them(or if it's the first time your talking to them) make sure you talk until they don't want to discuss their story anymore, then try to talk with them again immediately. They'll either start the next part of their tale, or confirm that's all they want to say for now. Most important! If you're switching between NPCs, remember to talk to them to make sure they have leveled up with you! Some start out higher level than you, but as you progress so should they(whether they're with you or not). It's the same principle as getting the next part of their story, but you only need to do this when you're adding them to your party to adventure. I'm playing a fighter so I'm switching between bard and sorcerer. I'd think for the battle in question, you'll need the barbarian or the monk. I'd go with the barbarian. Just make sure he's leveled up, that you're rested, summon the best thing you can, and use some potions of bless, barkskin, and whatever else is handy. After you're all set up and ready to go for it, save and then, "have at it". [ 10-05-2002, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ]
