I'm still here, but not for long. I have to go to work in a minute.

Neither, we call it Nederland
Holland is part of the Netherlands, but since it's the part where we had our main harbours most sailors came from Holland. A couple of centuries ago they liked to sail around and claim lots of land, and since those Dutch people came from Holland which is in the Netherlands, they said they were from Holland, see?
So it's become somewhat synonymous.

Morning everyone

Good morning, Legolas, and everyone. Cloudy and cool here, but it's supposed to get cold. How is everybody?

Hi All

I gave 2 weeks notice at work today. I quit my job! But, I'm moving to the 21st floor of a big firm on the river in downtown Chicago. Big raise.

The unfortunate thing is that 2 weeks from now I suspect I will be spending MUCH less time on this board. I know - for some of you, that's not such a bad thing - but for ME it sucks.

What do you guys think about my trade:
Giving up:
- Lots of court work and high-end 5+ yr attorney work - the real deal
- Small firm, flexible hours, go home early

Getting:
- 50% pay raise
- prestige of being with one of the nation's 40 largest firms
- going back to 100% environmental law

Thoughts all?? Guess this should be a separate topic. As usual, I Didn't know I'd ramble for so long when I first posted.

Tsk, Tsk. Some folks just have an unrefined palette.

I know in other countries they don't drink it like college kids here drink it, but from my experience tequila is for getting drunk on. Good Scotch is for sipping. Sorry, but nothing alcoholic on the planet compares to a good scotch, say a MaCallan 12 yr or older. I'm plugging MaCallan not because they are the absolute best, but because they had the class to send me a calendar.

I'm at work now. At least it's Wednesday already. Only 3 days to the weekend!

It sounds like the classic 'step up', Timber. But the question is, are YOU happy with it? That's really what counts after all!

Well, Cloudy - in theory I'm ecstatic. But, I won't know for sure til I get there.

The strongest emotion known to man is fear. The strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. -- Either Stephen King or HP Lovecraft, I forget which (because SK wrote the intro to my HPL book).

Well, TL, you are young and can take the pull, so it sounds like that you made the right choice. For me, the "going home early" would be the deciding part. And, yeah, The Macallen Calender is cool. They sent me one at home and one at the office, so Galadria gave the other to Piestrider. So he is now getting many cool points in High School.

Antryg, How is PS: T treating you?

Cloudy, I am expecting Elif to drop by and declare it "Hump Day."
